How to Track a Cell Phone Signal

If you've ever lost a cell phone and wanted to know how to track the signal, it's really not as difficult as you might think. Using GPS technology a mobile phone sends out a signal even if it is in standby mode, which means the signal can be tracked. In some cases you may require assistance from your phone company, in other cases you may need help from a specialized piece of software

Triangulate the signal. This will require a technician from the phone company who can compare the signal strengths between three different cell phone towers. Plug this information into a piece of software that will determine the location of the phone. This method is only accurate within about 100 meters.

Check with your phone company to see if your phone is equipped with e911. Some of the smart phones made after 2007 have a built-in system that gives the location of the caller anytime a 911 call is made. The phone company can make these transmit anytime whether the phone is on or not. If you have this feature turned on you can ask your wireless carrier to track the signal and find out where your phone is.




3.Install the free software from mologogo.com that turns your phone into a GPS tracking device. If you ever need to track the signal of your phone, just log into your account and you can find out exactly where your phone is.

Install Mobile Spy3. This software allows you to monitor compatible smart phones. Once installed it will update its GPS location every 30 minutes whether or not the phone is turned off and it will continue to run in the background.
