Flashing the BIOS is the process of replacing the existing BIOS with a new or later revision. It is required to make the USB drive "bootable," so that the computer can recognize it at system startup. You can do this via a thumb, or USB, drive with a few simple tweaks. The entire process can be completed in around 20 to 45 minutes. Instructions 1 Insert the USB drive into the computer. 2 Click on the pages in Resources and download the USB Format Tool and the "Win98SE_bootdisk.ISO" files. Save both files to the "C" drive. 3.Open the USB Format Tool, select "FAT32" as the file system, click "Create a DOS Startup Disk" and select the "Win98SE_bootdisk.ISO" file as the file source. 4 Press "Start" to format the USB drive, rendering it bootable. 5 Copy the BIOS files and BIOS Flash Utility files to the USB drive. 6 Restart the computer. Press the key indicated during system startup to enter BIOS. Go to the "Boot" menu, select "Primary Boot Device" and choose "USB drive." 7 Press "Esc" and "Y" to save and exit. Press any key as the computer is reloading to boot from USB. 8 Type "flashname biosfile" and press "Enter," replacing "flashname" with the name of your manufacturer's BIOS flash utility and replacing "biosfile" with the name of the BIOS file to which you are updating. usb flash drive china
